College Resources
The Iowa Pride Network
provides direct on-campus services, resources and support to Iowa’s
college and university LGBT organizations and students. In addition,
the Iowa Pride Network provides a variety of networking opportunities
and sponsors various LGBT conferences and panels. We
also invest and support the Iowa Pride Network College Coalition.
This growing group of more than a dozen Iowa colleges and universities
meet monthly to further develop their leadership skills, gain
programming ideas and coordinate activities statewide.
1. Create
Gay-Straight Alliances/LGBT Groups
College LGBT Groups are student-led organizations that
educate student populations about LGBT issues and work to address
anti-LGBT harassment on their campuses and promote the safety
and respect for ALL students. Typically, these student groups
are funded through the student government as a student organization
and work with a university-funded student resource center or staff
member.
2.
Network
with College GSA Coalitions
The Iowa Pride Network
College Coalition brings Iowa's college and university LGBT groups
together to strengthen LGBT Organizations, work on coordinated
activities across the state in order to show community and solidarity,
and provide a voice for the over 18,000 LGBT college students
in the state of Iowa. If you or your college LGBT group would
like to join the Coalition, register with the Iowa Pride Network
and RSVP for the next College Coalition Meeting. Meetings are
held throughout the year on various campuses throughout the state.
