Cedar Falls High School

The Iowa Pride Network has been instrumental in helping me understand what it means to be a LGBT student activist who is growing up in Iowa. Through their events, I have been able to meet hundreds of students from all across Iowa who are just like me. Without the Iowa Pride Network’s diligence and enthusiasm, a Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) at my school would not have been possible. They have given students at my school the insight necessary to run a successful club and countless resources to combat homophobia.

The Iowa Pride Network has also given me many great life experiences. Because of them, I have served on a panel for local educators discussing my experiences as an LGBT student, presented at several conferences about how to run a GSA successfully, been interviewed on the news, and even advocated for legislation that I felt passionate about. I am grateful for all of the things that the Iowa Pride Network has done for me.
