Tyler Mooers
Carlisle High School

Through the Iowa Pride Network, I was given the opportunity to become a Student Organizer with an advocacy group called GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network). GLSEN is a national group that deals with ending bullying and harassment of lesbian and gay students. Without the Iowa Pride Network, I would never have been given such an opportunity.

Through the Iowa Pride Network I have gained knowledge and skills to help better advocate for equal rights for all people regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The Iowa Pride Network has also given me direction to further my education. I will be attending the University of Iowa this fall with a business major and a political science minor in hopes of one day running for office to help further the progress in the fight for equal rights.
